AquaCal heat pump uses nature's free heat from the air to heat your pool water. Electricity is only used to transfer the heat not to create it. It is significantly less expensive than gas or electric heating. This makes AquaCal heat pump the most economical, safe and trouble-free wat to heat your pool.
Why use a heat pump to heat your pool?
A heat pump can save you up to 80% over the cost to heat your pool with a propane gas heater, up to 70% over natural gas heaters and up to 600% over electric resistance heaters found in most spas. The most economical heat pumps use SCROLL compressors. AquaCal's HeatWave heat pumps were the first heat pumps to feature SCROLL compressors as their standard compressor.
How does a heat pump work?
A heat pump simply moves heat from the air and transfers it to the water using a refrigeration cycle like your refrigerator or air conditioner. This is a safe, economical and trouble-free system.
Is the refrigerant used in heat pumps ecologically safe?
YES! The United Nations Environmental Protection Agency has approved the type of refrigerant used in AquaCal's heat pumps, R22, unti the year 2030.
What is a pool blanket or solar cover?
The pool blanket is a plastic bubble cover with air pockets that floats on the surface and insulates the water from the air. A pool blanket can reduce your heating costs even more when used in combination with a heat pump.
Why does AquaCal use an internal bypass in their heat pumps?
The internal bypass assures that the right amount of water enters the cupronickel heat exchanger. The internal bypass is used instead of a manual external bypass because the heat pump is engineered to automatically adjust to the flow of your pool or spa pump. With a manual bypass, it must be manually adjusted constantly to optimize the heating efficiency. If too much or too little water enters the heat exchanger, it can lower the performance of the heat pump but can also erode the heat exchanger and create the need for an expensive repair.
