Pool equipment life expectancy
Last Updated: 08/12/2010
Every 2 to 5 years your pool will need the following equipment replacements.  These estimates are based on equipment in the southeastern coastal area.  This area is very aggressive due to the salty air.  Equipment such as electric motors and pool heaters fail in this area much sooner than they would in a northern or midwest climate. Due to the intense sunlight breaking down the plastics of the drain covers, pump housings and skimmer lids the plastic becomes brittle and breakage becomes a real problem sooner than in a milder climate.

  •  Pump motors 2 to 5 years.
  • Heater 4 to 10 years.
  • Lights Bulbs 2+ years depending on use.
  • Gaskets, seals and O-rings Yearly, but that depends on where the gasket is located.

  • Multiport key assembly, spoke gasket 3 to 5 years.
